About CRPF

The Central Reserve Police Force was established to serve as the Crown Representative's Police on 27th July 1939. The name was changed to an official part of the Central Reserve Police Force on the passing of the CRPF Act on 28th December 1949. It has existed for the 82-year history of the force, with a glorious. The Force has evolved into a large organization, with 246 Bns, (including the 203 executive Bns and the 05 VIP Security Bns and 6 Mahila Bns 15 RAF Bns 10 CoBRA Bns, five Signal Bns , 01 Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Group Special Duty Group, 01 Parliament Duty Group), 43 Group Centres, 22 Training Institutions 03 CWSand 07 MWS/SWS four composite hospitals that have 100 beds, 18 Composite Hospitals , with 50 beds as well as 06 Field Hospitals.

Organizational Set-up of the Force

The headquarters of the Force Hqrs of the Central Reserve Police Force is located at Block No. 1, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi. The CGO Complex is led by Director General . They are assisted by 3 Addl. Directors General , 9 Inspectors General of Police, a Financial Adviser and Director (Medical). The arrangement is like this :

Administration

Administration Directorate Administration Directorate is managed by lG (Adm). The Directorate is assisted by the help by DIG (Adm) as well as DIG (Welfare).

Personnel

The Personnel Directorate is functioning under the supervision by lG (Pers). He is assisted by assistance from DIG (Pers), DIG (CR and Vig), DIG (Org), DIG (Estt) and Comdt(Estt).

Training

The Training Directorate is functioning under the supervision by IG(Training). The Directorate is assisted by the assistance by DIG (Training-l), DIG (Training-ll) and DIG(Sports).

Operations

This Operations Directorate is functioning under the supervision of IG (OPS). He is supported by the help by DIG (OPS-I) and as along with DIG (OPS-II).

Provisioning

The Provisioning Directorate is functioning under the supervision of IG (Provisioning). He is assisted by the assistance by DIG (Prov) and DIG (Mod and ord), DIG(MT), Comdt. (Mod) and Asstt. Director (Prov).

Communication

IG(Communication) is responsible in the area of Communication Dte. Communication Dte. He is supported by DIG (Eqpt ), DIG (Tech) and DIG (IT) .

Intelligence

The Intelligence Directorate is functioning under the direction of IG (Intelligence). He is assisted by DIG (MAC),Commandant(Int) and PRO.

Establishment

The Establishment branch operates under the supervision by IG(Estt.). The IG(Estt.) is supported by the help of DIG(Law) as well as DIG (Rectt).

Finance

The Finance Branch and Pay is under direct supervision from the FA. It is supervised by Dy.FA. Finance Branch is supported by Dy.FA.

Medical

The Medical Branch is functioning under the supervision of the IG Director (Medical). Medical Branch is under the supervision of IG/ Director (Medical). Medical Branch is supervised by two Dy. Director (Medical).

The Central Reserve Police Force ( CRPF) is the largest Indian Central Armed Police Force. It is supervised of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) of the Government of India. The main purpose that the CRPF is to aid the States as well as the Union Territories in their police operations to enforce the law and order and to defeat insurgency. It was created as the The Crown Representative's police on 27 July 1939. After Indian Independence, it was named its individual Central Reserve Police Force on the promulgation of the CRPF Act on 28 December 1949.

Apart from law enforcement and counter-insurgency obligations to counter-insurgency, the CRPF is playing an increasingly important role in India's general elections. This is especially true for an earlier state called Jammu along with Kashmir, Bihar and in the North East, because of the existence of tensions and violent conflict. When the Parliamentary elections were held in September 1999 the CRPF was a key player regarding security measures. Recently, CRPF contingents are also being assigned for UN missions.
